Do I need to be a resident of Brazil to invest in the Brazilian stock market?
No. You can invest in the Brazilian market and live in any country, as long as you use an international brokerage house that provides access to B3, Brazil’s stock exchange. Through the brokerage house, you can directly trade stocks, ETFs, futures contracts, minis, options, and other Brazilian assets without complex local registration, thanks to B3’s new regulatory model for individual foreign investors. If you already have an account with Interactive Brokers (IBKR), simply check if trading in Brazilian assets is enabled in your profile.
What assets can I invest in in Brazil?
Through B3’s partner brokers, like IBKR, non-resident investors can access a wide range of assets in the Brazilian market, including:
- Ibovespa ETFs and other Brazilian indices (available now)
- Fixed income ETFs (available now)
- Crypto ETFs traded in Brazilian Reals (available now)

How do I add money to invest in Brazilian assets?
You deposit funds into your account with the international brokerage house, in the account’s default currency (i.e. U.S. Dollars). Then, you can convert part of that amount into Brazilian Reals (BRL) through the brokerage house and use it to trade assets on B3. The whole process is done through your brokerage house without the need to send money directly to Brazil.
Are there restrictions on certain countries?
B3 designed the regulatory model to allow access for investors from several countries. However, the possibility of investing depends on the rules and policies of your brokerage house and the regulations of the country where you live. Confirm with your broker whether residents of your country are allowed to invest in the Brazilian market.
What is the step-by-step to start investing in Brazil?
